Annet Romain Asio

Dr. Annet Romain, originally from Kumi, Uganda, currently resides in Brooklyn, New York, USA. A proud member of the Iteso community, she is an accomplished educator with over 20 years of experience in elementary education. She is also the founder of Awo, an educational initiative dedicated to preserving and promoting the Ateso language and Iteso culture through engaging learning resources for children and families around the world. Her work reflects a deep commitment to education, cultural preservation, and ensuring that future generations remain connected to their language, heritage, and identity.

As Treasurer of the Iteso of North America Association (INAA), Dr. Romain is committed to advancing the organization’s mission of bringing Iteso together, strengthening community bonds, preserving our cultural heritage, and creating opportunities for future generations. Her decision to join INAA is rooted in her belief that unity, mutual support, and cultural continuity are essential to building a strong and thriving Iteso community in the diaspora and beyond. She considers it an honor to serve INAA and to contribute her experience, leadership, and dedication toward building a stronger organization and a lasting legacy for generations to come.
